Root Cause Analysis

March 4, 2015 – FREE WEBINAR
Using Software Defect Root Cause Analysis to Drive Process Improvement in ‘Agile’ Software Development

Time: 12:00pm-1:00pm Pacific time

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of software defects is a primary tool to help drive fast, lightweight and effective software development improvements. Its effectiveness is invariant to the development methodology used; it works equally well for ‘Agile’ or phase-gated development methodologies. This Webinar will discuss the compelling evidence of its equal applicability and value to both ‘agile’ and ‘traditional’ software development. It will first step through a proven RCA methodology that includes:

• A Software defect classification using an Orthogonal Defect Classification (ODC) scheme;
• An affinity based grouping and organization of the potential software defect root causes;
• Identification, verification and mitigation of the root causes for software defects in your development processes.

We will compare two SW defect RCA case studies: one performed by a team using an ‘agile’ SW development SLC and another using a ”classic” waterfall process identifying their similarities.This webinar will cover examples of challenges experienced during HALT runs. The examples shows some of the problems that can be overcome to successfully complete HALT. Electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical examples will be presented.
